My re-designed book cover for class.

For this assignment I chose a book by Hilary Mantel titled "An Experiment In Love". The effects I used were I did a perspective blur on the woman scientist. I created a new layer with her hand to create a depth of field effect. I also created the wording and edited them with puppet warp as well as overlay and stroking to make them pop a bit more. The original photo of the scientist showed her holding a test tube so I had to remove it, clean the image and then work a pic of a beaker into the design. On the back cover, I found my info from the british council site http://www.contemporarywriters.com/authors/?p=auth67.

My designed covers front, rear plus spine.

  1. I really like your book cover. It looks really good. I like how creative you were with changing the background image and changing the chemistry bottle(i don't know the technical name). I also really love your word art and that you made a rear cover. I also really like the pink it bring the fact that love is involved more vivid instead of just having the word. Good job.

  2. Thank you Katherine. I had a major hassle just uploading my files to blogger without an error, but all is fixed now!

  3. Awesome. Very nice, you really went beyond the required cover buy doing the back as well. I think that the letter LOVE blends very nicely with the image and the background colors are very sharp and eye catching. The only thing i would suggest improving on is the words "an experiment" try to see if you can use a totally different font this way the lettering IN LOVE will kind of look at a image with in its self. great job

  4. I definitely agree that you have gone beyond the required cover. You put forth the extra effort, that's for sure :). The original book cover, in my mind, was a bit confusing as to what it was about as there really was little writing on it and the picture alone left you to wonder and to be honest, a bit boring, in my opinion. I felt yours was much more explicit and had more to look at with the bold writing and the colors you had choosen. Great job!

  5. It would be better if there was a visual relationship between the spine and cover other than just color. The fonts do not match and I think it would be better if your cover text was a more simple layout instead of wrapping around the beaker.
